In our Ferrero Dairy Charter, we define how we are working with our suppliers to support a good dairy industry for people, animals and the environment.
Our commitments include the following:
- Through the Ferrero Farming Values (FFV) programme for dairy, we develop and nurture long-term relationships with carefully selected dairy suppliers who adhere to our strict quality and food safety standards.
- We go above and beyond the required legislation on responsible dairy sourcing, outlining our ambitions to support the dairy industry through our Ferrero Dairy Charter.
- We work with Food Animal Initiative (FAI) Farms and dairy suppliers.
We are committed to responsible sourcing that supports animal welfare and helps build a resilient, compliant, and free-range egg supply chain. Our egg supply chain is fully integrated, meaning suppliers have control over their hens' life cycle, including their feed composition.
We source our eggs primarily from the European Union, Turkey, Mexico, and the United States.
In 2024, we were awarded the Compassion In The World Farming Global Good Egg Award for being 100% cage-free producers in Europe since 2014 and for our commitment to sourcing 100% cage-free egg products worldwide.
Our Commitment and Action
- In 2014, Ferrero achieved 100% free-range egg sourcing in the European Union, a significant milestone in our approach to animal welfare.
- In fiscal year 2024/25, 89% of our global egg consumption came from cage-free systems in Europe. An additional 7% came from Mexico and Turkey, countries that completed their transition to cage-free systems in January 2026. The remaining 4% comes from a subsidiary in the United States that is currently being integrated, with a clear roadmap to achieve cage-free sourcing by 2028.
- We continue to expand our global sourcing of cage-free products in collaboration with our suppliers, as part of our commitment to responsible sourcing.
Ferrero purchases approximately 22% refined cane sugar and 78% beet sugar. Most of our beets are sourced from European producers, and our sugarcane comes primarily from Brazil, India, Mexico and Australia.
Ferrero uses 100% Bonsucro-certified cane sugar, and we have built solid and trusted relationships with agricultural cooperatives and producers.
Ferrero has been a member of Bonsucro since 2010 a-global, non-profit organisation promoting sustainable sugarcane production, processing and trade worldwide. The organisation’s production standard reduces environmental and social impacts, including biodiversity, ecosystem, human rights and labour standards.
“This is what I am most proud of – we have 400 buyers all working in the same direction, with the same compliance rules, to push ahead the standard of our supply chains.”
Nicola Somenzi, Head of Responsible Sourcing, Ferrero.
