Ferrero Farming Values

Ferrero farming values

Our sourcing approach

At Ferrero, we believe that the quality of food starts at its origin. The ingredients we source are at the heart of our products, and the farmers and communities who cultivate them are essential partners in our success.

FFV

Ferrero Farming Values (FFV) is our global framework  designed to support  our responsible sourcing approach
It brings together decades of experience working directly with farmers, suppliers, governments, NGOs and local communities to help strengthen supply chain resilience, improve transparency, and support more responsible agricultural sourcing practices.

The framework provides a consistent approach across our key agricultural ingredients, including cocoa, palm oil, hazelnuts and dairy, while recognizing the unique challenges and opportunities of each supply chain.

Our ambition is to contribute to long-term positive outcomes for farming communities and natural ecosystems by supporting responsible agricultural practices.

Sacco conosciuto

Our Philosophy: Sacco Conosciuto

Our philosophy of Sacco Conosciuto — literally "knowing what's in the bag" — reflects our commitment to improving our understanding of where our ingredients come from, how they are produced, and the impact they have on people and the environment.

For us, quality is not only about taste; it is also about trust. This philosophy has guided our approach to sourcing for decades and remains the foundation of our responsible sourcing journey today. Ferrero Farming Values is how we bring Sacco Conosciuto to life.

By combining transparency, accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement, we aim to translate this philosophy into measurable action across the priority ingredients we source.

FFV

Our approach

The Ferrero Farming Values framework is built around five interconnected elements: Supplier Due Diligence, Supply Chain Traceability and Visibility, Certification & Standards, Farming Practices & Communities, and Sector Transformation. Together, these elements aim to strengthen supply chain resilience, enhance transparency and accountability, support farming communities, and contribute to the protection and restoration of natural ecosystems.

Applied across Ferrero’s key ingredients, Ferrero Farming Values provides a consistent yet flexible framework that can be adapted to the specific challenges and opportunities of different supply chains. The five elements can be dialed up or down depending on the characteristics, maturity, and priorities of each ingredient supply chain, ensuring that resources and actions are focused where they are expected to address the most material challenges.

While each agricultural supply chain faces different sustainability challenges, our ambition remains the same: to advance sourcing practices that support priority ingredients being sourced with care, respect and responsibility.

The five elements

Supplier Due diligence

1. Supplier Due Diligence

We work closely with suppliers to assess and manage environmental, social and governance risks throughout our supply chains. Through risk assessments, audits, monitoring activities and continuous engagement, we promote responsible business conduct and encourage continuous improvement.

2. Supply chain traceability and visibility

Understanding where ingredients originate is essential to responsible sourcing. We continue to strengthen traceability systems that help us map supply chains, identify risks and improve transparency. Advanced technologies and partnerships enable us to increase visibility from farm to factory and support informed decision-making.

3. Certification & Standards

Certification schemes and sustainability standards play an important role in promoting responsible agricultural practices. We collaborate with recognized certification systems and industry standards to support continuous improvement and responsible production.

4. Farming practices and communities

Supporting farmers is central to our approach. Our aim is to promote good agricultural practices, climate resilience, biodiversity protection, soil health and responsible land management to help farming communities adapt to changing environmental conditions.

Sector transformations

5. Sector Transformation

Many sustainability challenges cannot be solved by one company alone. We actively participate in industry initiatives, multi-stakeholder partnerships and collective action platforms that help address systemic challenges and create lasting change across agricultural sectors.

Support for EU deforestation regulation

Ferrero supports legal frameworks to address deforestation linked to key ingredients as part of a smart mix of measures to achieve positive systemic impact in supply chains. In particular, Ferrero is in favour of the EU Regulation on deforestation-free supply chains and its implementation as it constitutes a harmonized framework to provide actors in the value chain with legal certainty and guidance on traceability and accountability requirements, while guaranteeing a level playing field based on adequate due diligence requirements.

Nicola Somenzi

“ Our approach is built around robust due diligence, supplier management, traceability and transparency, certification and standards, partnerships and collaboration. Building long-term relationships and supply chain transparency is deeply rooted in our culture.
