FERRERO JOINS NGOS AND INNOVATIVE PALM OIL SUPPLIERS BECOMING POIG MEMBER

News palm oil 2015-11-18

Ferrero is extremely pleased to announce that on 17th November 2015 it became a Palm Oil Innovation Group (POIG) member.
In response to Ferrero’s employees’ and consumers’ expectations, our POIG membership represents a further step on our journey to ensure the sustainability of our palm oil supply chain.

The POIG vision represents the same innovative ambition that in November 2013 led Ferrero to launch its Palm Oil Charter -in collaboration with its own suppliers- to address the leading causes of deforestation and create a balance between the conservation of the environment, community needs and economic benefit and viability.

As a first step in its journey for responsible palm oil, since 2005, Ferrero has been an active member of the RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil), an international organization that sets the standards of good practices for the palm oil production with respect for the environment and local communities.

Today Ferrero is one of the first Companies to join POIG with the aim of building upon the RSPO standards and commitments. This new membership seeks to establish new business practices that end deforestation, the burning and development of peat lands and major labor and human rights violations.
