OUR COMMITMENT TO SOURCING HIGH QUALITY HAZELNUTS

Our commitment to sourcing high quality hazelnuts

At Ferrero, we are passionate about quality, right down to the finest details.

We know how important the unique characteristics of each hazelnut are for many of our iconic products. The hazelnuts we use must meet our precise quality and freshness standards to ensure excellent taste, aroma and texture in all our products. This requires careful quality control along our entire value chain.

We source hazelnuts from orchards all around the world, but predominantly from four countries – all with Mediterranean-type climates.  These are Turkey, Chile, the United States and Italy. Turkey’s Black Sea region is the world’s largest producer of hazelnuts and consequently where we source many of our hazelnuts however Ferrero’s expertise and tradition with this fruit go back to its roots in Italy, with hazelnuts supplied from Piedmont—where Ferrero was founded—as well as in Lazio and Campania.

We handle our hazelnuts with the greatest of care to make sure only quality ingredients reach our consumers. We meticulously examine and check the hazelnuts we use to ensure they meet our high standards before they are delivered to our master roasters, who roast 100% of our hazelnuts. For each recipe and product, we use a specific hazelnut quality to achieve only the finest taste and to deliver the unique brand experience.

Innovation and research are critical to helping enhance the quality of the hazelnuts we use. Our Agri Competence Centre focuses on addressing factors that can affect the quality of hazelnuts, working with farmers and research partners to better understand how to mitigate and control these variations.

All of this helps us ensure we only use quality hazelnuts in our products.

Ferrero, Quality at heart.
