Every hazelnut used in Ferrero’s most-loved products carries a story. Behind that familiar taste is a journey shaped by care, craftsmanship, and farming communities around the world.  

As the Ferrero Hazelnut Company (HCo) celebrates its tenth anniversary, it’s a moment to look back at how one small ingredient became the heart of some of Ferrero’s most-loved products, and how protecting its future has become a global mission for the Company.
 

A commitment that began 10 years ago

Ten years ago, Ferrero set out to protect one of its most important ingredients: the hazelnut. This vision led to the creation of the Ferrero Hazelnut Company (HCo), with a clear goal - to strengthen the hazelnut supply chain and secure its future for generations to come, ensuring that every Ferrero treat continues to deliver the taste and quality fans know and love.

Today, HCo is a global network of more than 3,000 people. Scientists, agronomists, and sourcing experts work side by side at every stage of the journey, from developing new ways to grow hazelnuts with great care to carefully sourcing and processing each nut to meet Ferrero’s high standards.
 

Why growing hazelnuts around the world matters

Hazelnuts are deeply connected to nature, and nature is changing. As climate change brings more unpredictable weather and tougher growing conditions, building resilience has become essential.

That’s why Ferrero invests across four continents, in both hemispheres, to grow hazelnuts all year round. This multi-country approach helps protect supply, support farming communities through onfarm training, the promotion of good agricultural and social practices, and dedicated educational activities — helping strengthen local capabilities while ensuring a consistent, fresh flow of highquality hazelnuts.  

Just as importantly, Ferrero works closely with farmers, agricultural associations, universities, and research institutes. These partnerships help share knowledge, strengthen local economies, and support a hazelnut supply chain that can thrive long into the future.
